Tech No Comments »

Few weeks ago, dad keep on nagging me for not renew my old IC to the new one. I really dun feel good about tat. Then last week saturday, i took a leave and went to renew my IC to MyCard at Maju Junction. Hey! there is a new University right beside the Maju Junction and it’s University Kuala Lumpur. but i never heard of it before.

I reach the office about 8.50am and i got a number 3142. According to the prediction board, my number will be called around 9am ~ 10:30am. So i just take a seat and do my work there (I know it’s going to be very boring time so i brought my laptop with me). After being waited for 1.5 hour. It’s my turn now, go to the counter, take my finger print and take picture. Tat’s it.

Now I’m eligible for the Myvi lucky draw, wish me luck ya 🙂

how to install AMP (apache, mysql and php) in window xp

Tech 3 Comments »

There are two ways to install AMP (apache, mysql and php) under window environment. In this post, i’ll teach you the easy way to install apache, mysql and php in one bundle. Bear in mind that, this installation is only suitable to be use for developement purposes.

DO NOT USE THIS FOR PRODUCTION PURPOSES!
Visit WAMP server website, download the latest stable release of WAMP Server. At the time i’m writting this post, the stable release version is 1.4.4. Under this stable release it bundle with Apache 1.3.33, PHP 5.04 + PECL, SQLiteManager, MySQL 4.1.10a, and phpMyAdmin. Total file size is 21Mb.

After download the setup file, double click it and follow the onscreen instruction. When the installation going to end, it will ask you to choose your root directory.

Just use the default www folder and click "OK".

After that, it will ask you about your Explorer Location:-

Just use the default one and click open.

Once you finished the installation, WAMP server will be started. You will see a new icon under your system tray.

You can just click on the icon to access the WAMP5’s Menu

The Brown color icon means all services stopped
Yellow color means one service is running
White color means all services are running

Once you see the white color icon, you can launch your browser and visit http://localhost and you will see the screen below.

You are DONE!

So you can start to save your file into the C:\WAMP\www folder and you will see the result.

Web base – Web 2.0

Tech 4 Comments »

Last 2 days mariah ask "what it means ‘web base’?" at one of my previous post. Web base means, you can perform some specific task by using Web Browser (IE, Firefox, Opera or etc). In other words, you do not need to download any setup files, do not need to run the setup.exe, everything you need is just a browser.

Many IT giant has started to turn their standalone application to web base application according to Web 2.0 Specification. You may ask me What is Web 2.0? I’m also not really sure about this but i know it’s a big thing hitting the software industry. Ok here is the simple explanation. According to a expert Richard MacManus from Zdnet:-

Web 2.0 = using web as a platform

Web 2.0 = the underlying philosophy of relinquishing control

Web 2.0 = glocalization ("making global information available to local social
contexts and giving people the flexibility to find, organize, share and
create information in a locally meaningful fashion that is globally
accessible")

Web 2.0 = an attitude not a technology

Web 2.0 = when data, interface and metadata no longer need to go hand in hand

Web 2.0 = action-at-a-distance interactions and ad hoc integration

Web 2.0 = power and control via APIs

Web 2.0 = giving up control and setting the data free
